Hi I am a newbie from Bermuda. I have one Silkie hen with a crooked beak, 2 old English game hens, 2 Japanese bantams, one Rhode Island Red Cross with Japanese Rooster and a St Davids Island Special (Bermuda mongrel) looks like there is some Phoenix in her.
I just saw my rooster do that to an existing nesting spot, pushing the hay around and clucking announcing his creation! I am glad it’s normal behavior judging by other replies here
