Thanks!!! I can get pics later today and post. It doesn't look like bumble foot (I have treated that in my chickens - not fun for them. In fact I have a chicken isloated right now, because of her bumblefoot "surgery".)
Her entire foot is swollen and I have isolated her into a small pen with...
I have a peahen who started limping a few days ago. It has gotten worse, so I caught her and checked her foot out. It is swollen and she acts like it is painful. I don't see any cuts/scrapes/ or any kind of injury. should I put her on antibiotics?? and if so, which one?? I have her in a...
Silly question, but are you sure they were fertile. My peahen also laid for the first time this year, but we never saw her "with" the male and every egg she laid was not fertile. I'm not sure, but I don't think they were old enough - the peacocks , that is. I have incubated peafowl eggs...
No, they are not Moulard Ducks. A Moulard is a cross between a Pekin and a Muscovey. I can't tell what these are yet. - either pure Muscovey or Muscovey/Cayuga mix. They are only just over a week old.
Thanks - I thought that might be what it is. Does anybody know where I can get the vaccine??? Even if It doesn't help, I would like to try. I just hatched out a bunch of chicks and would be willing to buy some if it has a chance of helping This is not the first one I have had that got this...
I have had several chickens that have become slowly paralyzed (starting in one leg ) and slowly progressing until they could not walk and die. Anybody have an idea what this is and what I can do to prevent it. Seems like it is my "home grown" chickens mostly. Can I vaccinate for whatever...
Narragansett poults for sale. Will post pics if needed. They range from 1-3 weeks old and I have approx. 10 more that should hatch in about a week. Yukon, Oklahoma area. Would be willing to meet in Yukon or Mustang if interested.
I think they are OK at night tucked up under mom in the chicken coop. Tomorrow I am not going to open up the run, that way they can't wander around outside . They will only be able to go out in the run. They will be mad, but one day won't hurt them and keep the babies safe. That way they can...
Yes and no. They made it through the night, but it rained all day and mom and dad took them outside - 2 didn't make it. looks like they got soaked and/or too cold. anyway - makes me so sad. I think I will close the run and not open it tomorrow since the weather is going to be the same...
yes, mom and dad are wonderful parents. dad is very protective - mom lets me near since I raised her from a gosling she is much more tolerant of me being near. Hopefully this weather won't last long. I am going to close them up in the coop once they go in so they will be out of the wind and...
