Update on my chicks born the wee before Christmas. All still growing and all have survived the unbearable temps here in Minnesota. Both moms are still sharing them and the chicks still don't seem to care as long as they can squeeze under! They sure are feathering out quickly. I don't think I...
My hardy Minnesota born preteens (3 weeks old). All eleven survived the weeweekends -20+ degree temps windchills -40s thanks to such great first time mommies and my tired DH! We purchased chicks in May and it has been the best thing my family has ever done! No need for psychiatry...buy a...
Everybody out for a drink and a quick bite to eat! Eleven hardy chicks total. Both mommies are sharing peacefully and the chicks run back and forth then snuggle underneath. It is -11 with windchill -34. Brooder area is right at 33 even with heat lamp and 250 watt bulb and everyone is acting...
These are some of the new arrivals. Both hens are sharing the chicks. Have alot more pictures but it will only let me load one per post. May have to post a couple more times! Giggle
Thank you Prairie Chicken and Lady of Mcamely! Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I saw 3 little faces tonight when checking on their food and water. My visit was brief as I have the other broody hen sitting on the other side of a particleboard divider of the broody pen. She was...

We have 2 BO girls sitting in eggs. They are only 7 months old. We do have 2 roosters the same age that have been mating with the 14 girls for some time. We moved both hens to the brooder box 10 days ago with a divider between them and they have continued to sit tight, only getting up to eat...
