I named one of mine Cas because of the way it always does the silliest things and can't seem to figure out the basics. It's funny how much fun you can have with naming them.
So I have five polish crested chickens about 2 and a half months and is this one a hen or a roo? I know I have four females for sure and this one has head feathers like a hen but it's tail is a bit different. Opinions? Does anyone know for sure cuz I'm really confused on this one!
I. Tried. Everything. I gave her medicine and liquid foods and all sorts of yogurts with live bacteria and I hand fed it to her. She looked pretty bad this morning then she started to seizure. I quickly ran her out to the yard and helped get all the fluid out. She then kinda looked at me one...
Got up early today and fed her some probiotic water and seems better than yesterday. She is quite unhappy that she can't be with the rest of her chicken friends and is crowing and wanting to be with them. She hasn't acted this good in days so I'm hoping she's made it through the hard part. I...
These were both very very helpful! This now gives me an idea and strategy on what to do. Thank you so so much! I think it hasn't completely soured yet so it doesn't look like we'll need a vet visit (hallelujah!)...yet. I'm hoping she begins to feel better after tomorrow. Thanks again!
Where do I read about crop issues? I got an account not to long ago (month maybe, probably not even a month) and I can't seem to find out where that would be. At this point I'm begging that she makes it to the morning. I don't want to give her the wrong thing! I have massaged most of the liquid...
Continued(I accidentally clicked post) and it comes running out her mouth. Really need some thoughts or ideas on what to do. I love her soooo much! I just can't image having a Flock without her. Please give me some suggestions!
Uh oh. She looks 10x worse now. She is really droopy and looks like she is on the edge of death! (Almost in tears right now) I need to know if a probiotic solution will help. I can't stand to lose the poor babe, she was always the one to come running up to me and chirp and tell me how she was...
Another update: chicken now has very fowl smelling liquid that come out her crop and her crop feels like a squishy water balloon. This sounds like sour crop to me... she also has very watery droppings and she looks droppy again. I've heard live yogurt and feed with some apple cider vinegar in...

UPDATE: So all through the night I pretty much babied the poor thing. I gave her lots and lots of fluids and food which I struggled to give to her. Her crop felt a little weird so I massaged it to. I would feed her and lay her down for a bit and check on her every 20 minutes or so and do the...
I started measuring the amount of liquid that came out and I got to a cup and a half. I now am gonna give her some feed and a drink but I don't think she has anymore of the liquid in her. I was like a clear mucus (looked like water but was thick) and once I had drained that out of her she seemed...
Her crop feels really squish (great description right?) And her poo is either clear or really pale white. she is currently sitting on my lap and almost asleep. She seems very unaware of her surroundings. Could it maybe be heat distress or something?
