Well I eggcropsied the eggs in the bator. There is one that I couldn't be sure was dead but everybody else was, so I left the one egg in the bator. The dead chicks were fully developed, some smaller than others, none of them had pipped.
On a happier note my broody hen has hatched 4 chicks so...
I'm so glad you asked this question!!! I too am having silkie babies and the one of mine I thought was black doesn't look like your black one, he has some yellow on him too. I can't wait for the experts to answer your question. Your babies are gorgeous!!!
I appreciate what you are saying here truly. The broody hens chicks were due today and mine (bator) were due Friday (except for two) I peeked in on the broody hen (gotta love her) and there is a gorgeous white silkie chick in there and another one that is black or blue?? I put the Jersey Giant...
Well the hen in the brooder condo is hatching chicks. I'll check in the morning but saw one and heard others. Still nothing with the ones in the bator, they were due Friday. I still have two in there that aren't due to hatch until Monday, so I'll definately have to give it until then before I...
Congrats on all the cute chicks! The hen is hatching my beautiful silkie babies! I'll look under her tommorow morning to see how many have hatched. Thus far she seems to be slaying my incubator results, mine were due two days before hers (except for the 2 due Monday) I've only laid eyes on one...

I'm so jealous! I want a goat so badly and hubby keeps saying no. I've started clearing some land....one day....but right now the focus is the chickens and currently waiting on eggs to hatch, then building more coops.....but one day I'll have my goats!!!
I ventured outside to get away from the bator and my Buff rooster decided to give me a hard time. It was a good laugh for the kids, hubby, and my father-in-law. I got tired of listening to them make fun of me and came back inside!
I would believe it was rabid. I had an encounter with a rabid racoon that I shot in my yard last year (the only thing I've ever shot) Now might be a good time to make sure that all of your critters are current on their rabies shots and I would be ready to kill the fox if he comes back. The...
