So yesterday I noticed my one hen has a swollen eyelid. She is acting perfectly normal, eating and drinking just fine. The only thing I’ve noticed is that she’s constantly shaking her head.
What do I need to do to make her better
The only other thing she does is shake her head often. She’s not...
Lol. I don’t have high expectations on hatcheries, but the stores around here never seem to have what I wanted.
Here is my other one. Picture is from September but her colors haven’t changed from this.
I will have to get a photo after work today. I ordered 15 pullets from Hoover’s hatchery.
3 gold lace wyandottes
3 silver lace Wyandotte
2 Blue lace Red wyandotte
2 Midnight majesty marans
2 Saphire Olive egger
3 Americana (though pretty sure these are EEs)
Going of this list everyone is...
According to the answer from the hatchery they think this is an Easter egger. What do you all think? Not that it really matters what he is, I’m just curious. Does anyone have a rooster that looks like him? Will he get more colorful than this? He’s still pretty young, about 4-5 months.
What do you all use in your runs? Right now my run has a layer of hay down so they aren’t walking in mud.
Are there other alternatives to hay? Like mulch, wood chips, Or straw? They love the hay because they can eat whatever they find in it, but I’m am curious if there is a better material to use. 🤔
Thank you! I didn’t realize that it was a grower finisher food. I now know where I will be heading after work. Lol. Should I provide them with oyster now or wait till they get closer to laying?
So I have a flock of 15, of 14 pullets and one rooster. Right now they are 10 weeks old.
Right now they are finishing up their chick feed bag and the next bag I got is a grower/finisher crumble. Once they finish of the grower/finisher, am I able to switch them to the Purina flock raiser? Or...
I can’t wait for my MMMs to start laying, though I got a wait since they are only 8 weeks old. Their feathers are beautiful! I ordered two from Hoover’s and one had bare legs and one had feathered legs, it’s kinda nice since I can tell who is who. Lady is the most social out of the chicks I got...
Nice looking birds! I was debating on getting them but ended up going for the sapphire olive egger. Mine are about 8 weeks now. Here are my two. Just love the colors of them.
Thanks for the input! The other bird on the roost bar with the two gold ones is the same bird in the second picture. I ordered them through Hoover’s hatchery, so that might be why the colors aren’t good? I ordered 3 silver, 3 gold, and 2 blue/red. So it was obvious who was what once the colors...
Most of my flock are Wyandotte’s. Here are some of mine and they are 8 weeks old. Not sure what type of Wyandotte the second picture is though. I think it was suppose to be my other blue lace red but it looks nothing like my other one. 😆 What do you all think? Also will they get more coloration...
So my husband named her H. B. Which stands for Head B****. Don’t wanna swear lol. He called her that because she was being a bully to the others while they were in the brooder. Still is. Lol
Thanks! That was one of my other ones I was really questioning. Especially since none of the others have such red wattle and comb yet. Though we might have to do a name change if it is true lol.
I love that movie as well! It started off with a few names before we settled on Cheeks. It’s just nothing really stuck and we kept referring her as Cheeks. It fits so well, those fluffy cheeks are adorable!
