I think this 4 week Silkie chick may be a mix?

Oh and this is the same chick, a day old.

I think this 4 week Silkie chick may be a mix?

I know she is at least PART silkie due to the black skin. But there are a few things that are concerning and makes me think she may be a mix? (Possibly part Serama?) She was hatched with along with Serama eggs. I am guessing, though, a Serama Roo may have gotten ahold of a Silkie hen? Why a...

Is There an "Old Wives" Tale for Behaviors = Gender?

Nonsense or not -- what are some of the OWTs you've encountered?

    American serama thread!

Our Serama, Dorothy, loves my 4 year old. Here she is, perching with her. :) Some of the other chicks have a pasty butt.. but not Dorothy. (She just let's my 4 year old do whatever she wants!) Ah.. so blissed out! Here is PinkiePie.. fell asleep in her hair. Would have stayed there...

Is There an "Old Wives" Tale for Behaviors = Gender?

Are there old wives tales for behavior qualities in young chicks and genders? I read somewhere that boys don't like to be held on their back and struggle to get up, while girls have no problem being on their back? True? I am curious as to some others and everyone's experience with such "fun"...

    Silkie thread!

I have a mystery color, here. Anyone have any idea? She is our lone silkie hatched with a bunch of seramas. Let me tell you.. this (hopefully.. girl) has the best personality ever. SUCH a sweet chickie. But her color? I have NO idea!

    American serama thread!

Here is a better picture of Dorothy -- all dry and fluffed. Any idea what she'll look like as she grows older? She is pretty much a grey and yellow.

    Silkie thread!

I was hoping to hatch more silkies but ended up only getting this one lone Silkie (the rest Seramas!) Isn't she just adorable?? Can anyone tell me what color she is going to be? (Roughy guessing is fine by me!)

    American serama thread!

I guess I'll have to get a good picture of her after she is fully dry. I'd like to know what the official color is called, heh. :)

    American serama thread!

Hello Enthusiastic Serama Owners! :) My serama and silkie clutch are hatching in the incubator right now. The one that I am assuming to be the serama, due to it's sheer tininess.. is a light silver/blue. Is this even a Serama color?

    June Hatch-A-Long

I left home to go get a root canal and came home to one chick out of the shell and another trying to get out. I was SHOCKED! This morning when I left there was NO signal that they would be hatching soon. There were no internal or external pips.. No rocking of the shell. Nothing! Then.. THESE...
