Hi everyone! I was directed to this thread in hopes I could find someone to rehome one of our geese. (We live in Maryland)
The original thread is here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/looking-to-rehome-a-gander.1651944/
We are looking to rehome our Pomeranian gander due to conflict with another gander in our flock. He is more skittish around people and generally his aggression towards us is just a bluff. He gets along with a pair of Toulouse that we would be willing to part with if necessary. We are located in...
If the males are being too aggressive, I've heard that if you pick them up in front of all the other birds and force them to submit and be calm then they won't be as aggressive. If you cannot handle their fighting and if the females are getting hurt, separate them and put the males up for...
Geese definitely recognize people, in fact, most birds tend to. Some geese prefer some humans over others. In my opinion, geese are generally much better at recognizing faces and bonding with humans than ducks are, at least if you raise them.
Marie is actually doing quite well with males, even though they sometimes try to mate with her. Recently they haven't been doing it as much, though, so that's better. Usually they try to mate with the other female in the other flock, but the geese attack them; luckily they aren't injured...
Okay, so we have two flocks; 3 ducks in one (1 female and 2 males), and 2 geese and 2 ducks in the other (2 pairs). Originally we just had 4 ducks, but three of them were killed by a bobcat, and we got more to keep her company, as well as geese to alert us. This isn't really a question, more...
I have a Hovabator 1588, and read the instructions and did plenty of research before attempting my first incubation process. All the eggs died. I know it was my fault. Does anybody know the proper humidity settings and temperature settings for my particular incubator? The reason I am asking...
The kit that came with our brooder and incubator came with food, it says it is chick food. We don't if it safe to feed it to the ducklings and geese when they hatch. What happens if they hatch tonight and they have no food? We'll have the food by tomorrow. Is there anything I could feed them...
The eggshell changed from white to green over the last few days. When we candle it we see stuff floating around, but we don't know what it is. This is the first egg from my post titled Gunk in Duck Egg.
Also, my second egg has a giant half oval attached to its air sack, which has been...
I love almost all video games. I really, really, really love the legend of Zelda. I also like Skyrim, Sims 3, Tropico 5, Nancy Drew computer game series (although I'm still mad about Lani Minella being fired), animal crossing, super smash bros, and much more!
Today is the 20th day of incubation, and we have two duck eggs and two goose eggs in the incubator. I would like to have somebody's opinion about our duck egg. When we candle it, it is a little bit lighter than the other duck egg and whenever turned, a big blob of yolk or something moves...
