Where should I buy a chicken coop from?

Watched a random youtube video about some random prefab from amazon. In a nutshell he said that the wire used is so weak that only a chicken couldn't break it. He was breaking it with his fingers no less. You would be surprised what you can/could do with a simple hand saw, some nails and...

Stumped here need suggestions on 8x14 coop floorplan.

Thinking no more than the 150 watt for the bulb BUT. Thinking the heating pad/plate will be better for me after sleeping on it.

Actually after thinking about it, I think the heater pad, plate thingy would work out better for me, if indeed they worked. :)

Like this: ??????? Do these cover enough area for 15 chicks or would I have to have more than 1 for this? Also.. will this work all the way up until they feather out? I can get a heat lamp for $12 and keep in mind this started out as a $0 free build from scrap. Got to keep money to a minimum...

    Coop problem?

Dude! Just put plastic around the coop until it warms up. Roll of plastic and a few staples.. when warm weather comes, rip it off. 20 dollars and 30min of your time a year. Thats my plan for my over ventilated coop. :) You don't have to seal it completly,, leave a couple feet at the top in...

I could just put this type brooder over nesting boxes.. would raise the brooder up enough to reach everything better and enclose a space above it for the hanging of the heater. That way the adult birds won't be able to mess with the bulb and burn the coop down

Thought brooders was supposed to be kinda tallish like this: Can't put roosts and poop catcher over that with just a 7' ceiling..

Do you have a heat lamp in there? Looks like a lamp would be touching the birds when they feathered out enough to be loose..??

Not totally finished but should be by spring. I have more to cover and do before birds are turned loose in run. Me having a plastic top, I don't think I could trust chicks overnight as raccoon could chew threw that plastic in about 20 seconds. I just thinking brooder in coop for safety...

Not totally finished... seems perfect right now in winter, but with the heat of the birds + the sun in summer might have to cut out another spot for ventilation. Options always there. We don't want other birds flying into the coop and spreading disease right? :-)

Tired of dealing with hatching eggs with an incubator? Consider getting a couple of these instead.

Childhood memories. I can remember back on the farm my grandmother had every sort of fowl imaginable. Ducks, geese, chickens, turkeys and guinea. I remember one time my uncles showing me a hen that had come off the nest with chicks. What really stood out was that she had spurs! Not only...

Plus I like the fact that they get "born and raised" in the coop, always know where home is..

Not counting on it! :) However I do count on getting more roosters than I want, I think the min order is 5 some places, 3 the other. Some places only offer straight run which means mostly roosters. I intend to give some away or sell some to friends... Then you must think ahead to when you...
