I haven’t decided on anything in specific. I will most likely just find someone who has pigeons near me and buy from them. Unfortunately the one guy I was asking for ports from said he was dealing with some type of sickness in his flock.
That makes sense. I have two people in my town that I believe are flying pigeons. If I get in contact with them I will make sure to ask if they have any un flown pigeons. Thank you for the reply!
I am going to start looking for pigeons for my almost completed loft (It should be done by the end of this week). I have been looking and have found a few people with pigeons. I wanted to know what age I should ask for when I get my pigeons? What is the earliest that I can get them without...
My loft is 3 feet high with a door centered in the middle of the box. I tried to keep the chicken wire windows higher off the ground in order to prevent cats from peeking in. How high should I keep the box off the ground? Can I do this with 2-3 layers of cinder blocks?
Yes, I will probably try to keep nearby and only let them out when there aren't a lot of hawks. Ill try and find a happy middle between flying and keeping them confined to their aviary.
I see…I guess I'll have to lock my birds up for the bad seasons and just hope for the best. In the end if I lose a bird It'll be sad but I will have prepared myself. I'm going into the hobby knowing the risk '\_('-')_/'.
Thank you so much for putting time out of your day for this. This is truly helpful. This all seems pretty doable and I can't wait to put it into practice.
