Since the Old English Bantam Hen decided she didn't want anything to do with the feed store bin Bantams, and I am having to be their Mom, I decided to go to Atwoods today and pick up 12 more to raise along with the original I picked up a few days ago.
I'll show her!!:lau
A lady picking up...
New chicks went toward her, she came to them, pecked a couple near their heads so I removed them. Got em in a brooder now. Thanks for All your help and advice.
If she doesn't accept them, will she hurt them or just ignore? Should I offer them and watch what happens in the daylight or sneak them under her at night in her nest?
Im in east texas and its 85 D now and 65 D throughout the night
2 days ago we had an Old English Bantam Hen hatch out 4-5 chicks and she is very protective of them. This is the first chicks born on our farm. We have had ducks and geese for a decades.
I scooped her and her chicks and put them in a rabbit hutch thinking it would be more protection and easy...
We purchased some eggs to hatch and were told they were runner eggs, as we can tell by now they are not.
Some have said from looking at their Moms picture, last 2 pictures around pool, that they are Silver AppleYard Welsh Harlequin crosses.
They are about 2 months old.
All have orange feet...
Cutest Baby Fowl Photo Contest: geese are considered fowl. The term "fowl" generally refers to birds that are often raised for food, including chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. I think we have been scriminated against. 🤣🤣🤣
