    Success with wheelchairs?

hi guys :) I was wondering if any of you have personally had a chicken use a wheelchair or similar device successfully, or even seen or ‘knew someone’ who has. I’ve seen the website which I cannot remember the name of right now, that has instructions on building a chicken wheelchair I think...

Caring for a disabled chicken (silkie)

Hi thanks that is actually helpful :) Do you use any soap or just water? I’ve got some of the original orange Johnson Johnson baby shampoo on hand but haven’t gotten around yet to googling if it’s chicken safe or not. I think the only thing I’ll have to worry about is keeping her upright and...

Caring for a disabled chicken (silkie)

Hey guys, sorry in advanced if this isn’t the right place to ask, I wasn’t really sure. My disabled chicken lives inside full time, she’s my pet so i don’t mind the extra care involved. She’s about to turn 1 year this month and is otherwise healthy, her issues are a fully disabled leg (slipped...

    Moxivet Plus

Hi! Can I ask where you found this dose info? Did you ask the company / shop selling it? I want to try this product but can’t find any dose information for chickens anywhere online aside from your post and I’m afraid of overdosing my birds. Also if you’ve used it before what was your experience...

    This is blue right?

This is the rooster I mentioned if anyone can tell if he’s paint or splash also. The last pic he’s standing next to my splash hen. He looks rough in these because he’s a little ugly but also was getting over fowl pox and a possum bite (he’s healed from both since then 🙏)

    This is blue right?

First two pics I took just now. He hatched 10/26 I think so he’s about 2 weeks old. I assume he’s blue and he’s going to fully turn the dark blue his wing feathers are coming in as right? The contrast is just so extreme it’s throwing me off but maybe that’s normal. Moms a splash silkie and I...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

I just candled again and the embryo has not made it, stopped moving and veins drained and pooled. Rip 😞 Should I open it up and report back to see if it was actually twins or just some other anomaly?

    Hello fellow chicken enthusiasts

LOL 🤣 I don’t think your point of view on them is too uncommon. What can I say I am their mother and I think they’re just adorable, but that checks out doesn’t it 😂 Thanks for the link I shall check it out! 😊

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

I agree, and the other eggs in the same incubator all look how you described, at the correct level of development. I’ll check on the suspicious egg again over the next few days to see if it dies or develops more, for sure. Would be lovely if he keeps developing and I get a miracle hatch but I’m...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thank you for explaining! That makes a lot of sense, I’ll start counting it that way for future hatchings. I’m going to get some more thermometers though and check my incubator for hot or cold spots cause I can’t count that out as a possibility or at least a factor. And yes I’m not sure, but...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

Thanks. It’s not dead but appreciate the sentiment. I’m unsure if you read any of my responses to some of the other replies, but I stated it was moving around vigorously before I took the video. It’s pretty easy to tell the difference between the movement of a live embryo squirming around and a...

Advice for hatching twin embryos in one egg? Lockdown tomorrow..?

No you’re right they aren’t moving that much in the video. Right when I took them out of the incubator they were both wiggling around pretty vigorously, one more than the other though. I didn’t have the egg out very long but they seemed to slow down a lot when I was taking the video 😅 I’ve been...
