Was given these two and would appreciate help with 1) breed type(s) and 2) verify both are cockerels.
If the photos are not sufficient, I’ll get more as soon as they settle in a bit.
Thank you!
Fantastic information. Going to want to save this thread!! Just got some beautiful, sweet Brahmas from a lady in Jonesborough, TN. Looking forward to expanding the line, but a newbie with the chicken genetics. This forum is wonderful.
I blend or grind up the organs, cleaned gizzards and lungs then spread on silicone sheets and dehydrate. Dog treats in stores are very expensive per pound.
The Swedish and SAY drakes had all been next to the cage with Pekin hen and drake when I got them, so they are used to being separated but in proximity of her. I’m trying to get some more hens so the drake frustration level won’t be too high.
Would it help to move the boys to other side of the...
This is the TSC hen that I'd like to know if she is a Pekin or White Layer. She lays a huge white egg every day but the 1st Sunday of the month! She was a year old at the end of February. If this photo doesn't show her well enough, I'll take another tomorrow. Thank you!

So if a new drake is with her after the one she has been with leaves, will she potentially lay eggs alternately from both maies for the next 2+ weeks?
This stuff is fascinating!
So, I only have one white duck hen laying now (she was TSC mixed lot, so not sure if Pekin or White Layer). I'm starting incubator for eggs with current drake, but have another drake in separate pen and want to raise her eggs from him also. How long after I switch drakes should I wait?

In NE Tennessee I put three week old ducklings out May 17th and they were fine. Plenty of straw down in the poultry room. Had the heat lamp off in our house most of the week prior. (Keep the house cool - 66 at night). It was earlier than I wanted, but due to travel plans….
I picked up these guys for free - they were covered with stinky mud so their curly tails were straight, but their voices are definitely male. What breeds do you think they are? The folks didn’t know ages but they had them a year.
Thank you!
