Loss of feathers, bad vision & staggering

Sounds like molting time. I can't say why the chicken is stumbling, but loss of feathers and stop laying are tell tell signs if molt. Check her very closely fir mites. They also will cause a chicken to stop laying and lose feathers. If no mites then then I'd assume molt.

    Australorp X Dominique (Genetics question)

Thanks for your input! I was mistaken about when he and how the chicken in the photo passed away. My girlfriend told me tonight he was hit hard by coccidiosis in 2015 after we brought some chickens home a show in Fayetteville, AR. She said he showed symptoms one day and he treated him but he had...

    3 broody silkie

Just keep chick feeder and waterer in the brooder and it'll get what it needs, some people put rocks in the waterer so the chicks dont lay their head in it and drown. Sometime i put rocks sometimes not, never had a problem before.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Made an edit to my reply, I misread your post a bit. I realized I worded my post wrong, the razor was for incision only. Yeah using a razor blade to get it out would have been bad haha.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Yeah I worded that bad, I meant razor was used to cut an incisionthen once open it popped out with putting a little pressure from our fingers, we might have used tweezers it was 4ish years ago. Kept her in a small cage for a week or two so walking around wasnt an issue. But like I said our...

    Is she okay?

If she started molting then she could still be outta whack, and could be a while until shes ready to lay again. My ameraucanas would go so broody some wouldnt lay for 4 months in the winter. With the wether changing I wouldnt be worried mine would barely molt then stop laying for months. Some...

Is this something to be concerned about?

We removed bumblefoot with a sterilized razor blade when a chicken of mine had it. cleaned the foot and wrapped it up to let it heal. Chicken was fine after that. Mine was about twice as large as that. If I recall the chicken we did it too is still around she's 6 years old and hatched out some...

swollen eye, lethargic, laying rubber eggs

I had a silkie a few years back from Florida. Tennessee humidity was too harsh on it and it had runny nose its entire life. Also got an eye infection. We opened the eye and cleaned it, but eventually the eye began to decay. My friend and I removed the decaying eye and all of the junk inside the...

Plymouth Rocks - what are they really like?

My heritage ones were docile, had 1 aggressive male. My hatchery ones were wilder but not aggressive, just couldnt catch them as easily, more skittish. But as said before, a lot has to do with how much you handle them as chicks and thenforth.

What breed and sex is this chicken?

Looks to be about 6 weeks old, like someone stated it could be jersey giant but it could be a hatchery australorp with yellow feet or just a black barnyard mix.
