Thank you!! I was able to pat at the area and the bleeding has stopped and I put some neosporin on it.
He is my little buddy (he bonded with me very early on), we only bought chicks from TSC a couple years ago and to our surprise a turkey was in the mix!
Hi,
I just checked on my turkey (2.5 years) and he is bleeding pretty badly from the lower part of his wattle. I'm not sure what happened to him, he will still come to me but not sure how to help or if this is something where his suffering should be stopped. Please help, I don't have a vet...
Took my other chickens about 9-10 months to start laying. I have 1 Orpington and honestly I'm not sure if she's laying or not yet. I have 6 total hens and I'm getting eggs daily, just don't know who's giving them lol
Long overdue update, he is definitely a turkey! We originally named him Bernice when we thought he was a hen. Call him Berny for short. He's turned into a bit of a protector for the chickens.
We're not sure but we bought the first 8 at TSC and that one just looked a little different after a week or so. Now we definitely see the difference and we've done a Google search for the breed but I think we'll really be able to know after about 16 weeks.
Hi we picked up the first 8 from TSC and then the 2 reds from the local farmer's market. We did a Google image search on the turkey so we'll see what she/he really is once they've grown a bit more.
Thanks
Terra
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are new to owning chickens, recently bought property so this would be the best to start with.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 9 total. Bought 10, lost one and are finding out that one is actually a turkey...
