1 week duckling with respiratory distress

Since it's a giant pill how have you given the medication to a duckling? Crush it up, disolve it? Any advice of how to get my duckling to take it?

2 day old duckling with splayed right leg.

It should work great. I only had larger bandaids so I cut them in half longways. I have treated a few of my chicks and ducklings and it worked great. Here’s a link that shows how. Good luck with your little one!

Also it does sneeze at times, and still tips to its back pretty often. It rights itself much more quickly now. I believe the temp in the brooder is good but I haven’t done an official temp check. I have the heat light above one end. The water is deep enough until it drinks it to half way.

Thank you for the advice. I have ordered what you suggested to try. I filed a couple videos, the little guys pretty active still and doesn’t seem any better or worse really. Still eating, drinking, and poop looks good. I have been offering water, water with electrolytes, food mash, and just...

Yes. I have 7 hens and one drake. I just spit my flock and my sister in law now has a dock of 5 too. I have hatched some ducklings and my ladies are also sitting. I got some from someone local a couple years ago and my drake was taken by a bobcat. Last year I ordered a breeding pair online...

I have had great luck with using a bandaid as a hobble. Just wrap around the lower section of each leg. If it’s on right you little guy will probably be up moving around right away.

    Australian Spotted Duck

I have been raising these amazing ducks for a few years now. I have been breeding to share with friends and family and have now helped 2 others build their own flocks. They are the most amazing ducks, they are great layers and sitters!

    Covid Hobby Hatcher

Hi, My name is Terri. I have raised chickens and ducks for many years. Last year my Australian Spotted Bantams hatched about a dozen ducklings for the first time! This year I decided to get an incubator and hatch some chicks. I guess it’s been my Covid hobby and it’s been very rewarding. Last...

1 week duckling with respiratory distress

Hi, I have a sick duckling that hatched 6/26. Originally my hatch started as a rescue from a nest that my hen stopped sitting on. 1 hatched first, then 1 day later 1 more, then a couple days later 2 more. This little guy was my last egg in the incubator and I was expecting him to come along...
