    Cheryl's Hen House...

Well now that the days are getting shorter we've progressed up to zero egg production. Nothing to look forward to but spring when we will add some more that aren't freeloaders. lol... :lau

13 left here and they eat like a 12 year old fat kid. :lau Oh well, as you say, they earned it.

    Cheryl's Hen House...

I have vivid memories of processing chickens with my grandmother. I'll stick to buying them in a package. These old girls aren't hurting anything. Plan to but 6 or 8 more in the spring so at least we get some return on the feed bill.

Thank you. It's been a difficult time. The loss of one's mother is obviously never an easy thing under the best of circumstances. Having to deal with her house on our street and the old house/property pretty much absorbed Cheryl and I for a solid year. There was just so much stuff. She obviously...

Great to hear from you as well! Nice to know we're not alone with the freeloaders. :) We've never looked at the flock as pets but still get attached to them. Don't see any other choice but to let them live out their worthless little lives under our care.

Hey Molpet. So good to hear from you. Mom passed away a couple of years ago.

    Cheryl's Hen House...

Hey everyone. We're still alive and well. I've retired...sort of. Cheryl is still working. We're in the process of starting a new business. The flock is doing well but is aging out. We've lost a couple along the way. Added a couple of Lavender Orpingtons a while back. Bottom line is the flock...

Another amazing integration example. All 12 hanging right together out in the chicken yard.

Given the past issues we've had, it's very nice for this to have gone this well.

The new ones are just about completely blended with the old flock now. Averaging 7 eggs per day. Everyone is fat and happy. If all integrations were just this easy. :)

Awesome! We have one. Don't get to see him nearly often enough. My son lives 3.5 hours away. We have a big time when they visit though! We were riding our side by side around the neighborhood last time they were here. He told my son that Grandpa was going to get us arrested. lol... You know how...

1 week report. The newbies are doing well. Have been no issues at all. Egg laying was slow for a few days right after the integration as expected but is picking up now. 8/12 yesterday and 9/12 today. A really nice mix of colors. IMG_1491 by TerryHatfield, on Flickr
