Amikacin to treat inner ear infection - Anyone used this before?

I have a 1 year old hen who is battling an inner ear infection (link to original post: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/severe-inner-ear-infection-no-antibiotic-seems-to-be-helping-please-help.1569517/page-2#post-26648494) My vet is recommending Amikacin injections and I'm just looking...

Severe Inner Ear Infection - No antibiotic seems to be helping. Please Help!

Update: the vet called today and said the culture read that she has both E coli and Streptococcus bacteria in her ear. She is looking up the best approach to treat with antibiotics but thinks we will need to use 2 at the same time.

    1 hen has Odd behavior

The yawning and head tilt is why I asked about crop and ears. Fish, scrambled eggs, raw eggs, a strawberry or blueberry or even a small piece of a banana are all my flocks favorite foods...see if she responds to any of those to get her appetite going?

Have you checked her ears to see if they look clear? And does her crop clear overnight?

I started her on a vitamin supplement today in her drinking water but really like the idea of adding some egg or fish to her daily food supply. Thank...

Severe Inner Ear Infection - No antibiotic seems to be helping. Please Help!

Thank you for the recommendation. I've been more focused on treating it internally than through the ear so I will pick some of this up and run it by my vet. Thank you again!

Severe Inner Ear Infection - No antibiotic seems to be helping. Please Help!

Thank you Nicole. I have checked her for mites and lice and she is clear. I will still give her a nice bath though as I think that may be a welcome change for her. I'll have to hold her to no worries on the leaving her alone part. I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond. Everything I...

Emma is a 1 year old blue-laced red wyandotte who is normal weight. On Feb 27th she began losing her balance and...
