From what I can tell Pepper Pike does allow chickens. No roosters, obviously. Surrounding cities allow only egg layers and no meat birds? Idk. That is weird though nothing is said specifically.
I read that too about fumigating the incubator after a hatch, the instruction book said to use formaldehyde. :hmm I used vinegar and hydrogen peroxide mixture to clean out my incubator and so far it has worked.
Was the chick fully dried out when you made the move from incubator to corral...
Solon I feel there a lot of blue collar workers because of all the manufacturing, i.e. Swagelok. Chardon is nice and far enough away from the city, but a distance to drive if you want to do anything. That's what it felt like when I lived out there, but it is still nice. Love the metroparks out...
The schools in Solon are the best in the state, ranked #1 in Ohio and in the nation for 2018. I personally don't have children, so I can't specifically say, but I've noticed a lot of people move to solon so their kids can go to school here and leave once they graduate. As for the community...
Well I'm not going back to their feed. I'm going to take extra measures to make sure their food is dry and prevent any type mold outbreak the best I can. Fingers crossed.
So I got the feed from a local feed mill and it was bagged and then I move it to an air tight container. I thought medicated chick feed was bad for them?
They are too young to have the paralysis from marek's and the remaining chicks are doing ok. I did notice some dark brown droppings from someone but, they are all lively... except one she is just kind of sitting there snoozing while everyone else is just going on about their day.
So what causes that then? How do I prevent it? How do I treat the symptoms? Where did it come from? I don't know if I'm searching it wrong or I'm just so upset about losing my little chicks but everything I am reading is so vague on the how the infection starts with chicken eggs that came all...
Oh no it's a ceramic heater for reptiles. I learned at young age when my sister turned on the oven with teflon pans in there and it killed all of my mom's birds. One by one. It was awful and sad. :(
I'm not feeding them medicated food. They didn't have either of those symptoms of sneezing or anything. I'm continously giving them fresh water and they still have a heater to keep them warm. Fingers crossed it is not marek's. I get their feed from the local feed mill, I will have to double...
They were never vaccinated, I hatched them 3 weeks ago, they were my first chickens. I don't know where I would have picked it up from? They don't go outside of their coop since it has been too cold for them. Marek's is what I suspected too, but the time frame from infection to death doesn't...
I have 3 week old chicks that are barnyard mix and I started out with 10 and most of them just up and died tonight! They were all ok this morning when i fed them. When I came home from work, one was slumped in a corner and not with the other chicks. I picked him up and his feet were straight out...
Not unheard of from what I've researched and read on here. I know in solon, depending where you live and where your zoning location of your house is what determines it. Maybe possibly your section was grandfathered in after the fact. If anything, inquire with the city's zoning office. I lived...
Well from research I have done, Cleveland itself allows chickens, seven hills as well. I live in solon (about 25 minutes from cleveland) and they allow chickens as long as they are clean, don't smell and of course no roosters. From my understanding and what I have heard from my coworkers that...
