Hey all, just recently I've been seeing these small black aphid like bugs crawling everywhere in the coop, I'm thinking they're mites but I'm not sure. Now I've heard DE will help but I've also heard it's dangerous to humans and animals, so are these rumors true? And if they are, what are some...
Hey everyone, I have a friend who has two hens who have been broody for about a month now, and he's concerned over the lack of eggs and wants to break them of their broodiness. Does anybody have methods that will work? Thanks
I live on Long Island, New York and would like to get a snake, and have done the research and think the rubber boa is right for me. I haven't had time to gather any equipment and would appreciate if any breeders were willing to wait. I have looked everywhere else and can't seem to find a good...
When you say that it unhooked the latch I think racoon, but the part of the hen being completely gone seems like a fox. A racoon could defiantly rip off the roof, so my main suspicion is a racoon. Good luck, I hope the rest of your fowl Stay safe!
Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you're enjoying your chickens, they sound lovely. :D If you're looking to get rid of some roosters I would go to the re homing forum. Good luck with your flock!:welcome
So, the hawk showed up today, and I noticed that the only birds brave enough to stay in the yard with it were the local grackles, so I had an idea. I was wondering, will they do the same job as the crows in keeping hawks away?
If you want a good protective rooster, I would recommend a Silver Laced Wyandotte, big and not afraid to fight off a predator, but not too friendly in my experience.
You're right, I can't net mine, and we already have so many plants edible for birds and they regularly stay in the yard, I haven't had a problem yet. I think I'll try to get the crows to roost closer by, thanks everybody!
Awesome! I think I'll try with crows as ive seen a few by me. I don't think they should be a problem since my girls are all around the same size as them. :)
