I am primarily interested in chicks, although I would definitely purchase a set of breeders if giving the chance. I’m not set up to deal with hatching eggs yet.
On another note I agree whole heartedly with what ColtHandorf had to say. No one is trying to bash your birds or your work, but what...
The breeds as a whole. They are very difficult to tell apart when they are running around together, add to that that there are close to thirty of each breed, and its a little interesting trying to get a count on how many of each breed there are.
I ordered these from Meyers Hatchery. Ive never had any trouble with my older birds. They don’t gasp very often, but I have noticed a few of them seem to have a hard time breathing. I have been giving them SMALL doses of Tylen 200.
I do have quite a few older birds that have come down with similar symptoms (though not so server). I have never treated them for any illness before; they have been remarkably healthy until now.
Hey guys, i have two sick Blue Laced Red Wyandottes Chicks. Attached is a photo of what they look like; their symptoms include Lethargy, swollen eye and face. These guys are only a few weeks old and are still in the brooder. No signs of being picked on by the other chicks. Very strange. Any...
Is there a breeder of the more rare strain of Orpingtons here in the states? I mean like the Red Partridge, Gold Laced, Silver Laced, Creole, Blue Partridge, Red Creole, or the Lavender Isabel Orpingtons. I found a breeder in England, but no international shipping of eggs or (heaven forbid) live...
I just came into ownership of some beautiful young Swedish Flower Hens and am trying to figure out what I might be dealing with. Ive done some checking online and it seems you can get chicks for pretty high price ($9.99-$50.00 per chick). Are they very rare? What’s their temperament like? If I...
Hey guys have any of you dealt with worms in your birds? What is the most effective way to deal with them? I have a bunch of young birds that appear to be doing alright but I am worried that they might contract it later on from the area or possibly from the larger birds that have the worms. Any...
In my personal experience, McMurray has the hands down best Silkie chicks. Granted, i am not showing them or trying to build up a pure stock. All of the birds i got from them were well feathered and had nice beards and good crests. Here are a few pics.
