    Pinning down a rooster - does it work?

    The first time (and the last time) my roster tried to attack me i dropped kicked him with the side of my foot about ten feet. He got up to give me the stink eye but never tried again.

    I had a automatic chicken/coop door. Until I came home one day to discover the hens were MAD because the door hadn't opened that morning!!!!!!     Depends. Are your chickens confined to the coop 24x7 or are they allowed out during the day?

    What I used on the coop and run about four feet from the ground. I'm in the country and never had a need to padlock or use a carabiner (coon proof).

    Sand. Their poop dries and they work it into the sand to make it disappear. I have good drainage that allows this to work for me.

    Could put a tarp over the tin roof leaving a good air gap between the two. The tin would then be in shade and would not radiate heat.
