Our chickies are 12 weeks old, and we're wondering when they'll start laying. I heard about 20 weeks, but does it very from breed to breed? We have Rhode Island Reds, Easter-Eggers, Dominiques, and Barred Rocks. When should we introduce nesting boxes, and what do we use?

She does seem OK otherwise. She's definitely the friendliest and most "chill" of the flock, so maybe I'm just being paranoid. Her comb is coming in, so maybe that's bugging her somehow?

Lily, our 11-ish week-old "teenage" chicken, is doing something odd. None of the other chickens do this- only her. She squats and rolls her head from side to side in the dirt. Isn't that bad for her eyes?! I know hens do "dustbaths", but rolling just her head around in the rocks?! Is that...

I can't tell which hen is our Barred Rock and which is our Dominique. I can tell them apart; (they're named 'Lily' and 'Char'), but I don't know who is which breed, only that we have one of each. What are some differentiating factors? Only one has her comb.

Hi! We're new to chicken-ing, and have 7 lovely chickies! They're currently 9-ish weeks old, of several breeds. Love them already. :)
