    Nesting box bedding

    I have had pellets in my nesting boxes and changed them to the fake grass squares that Tractor Supply sells. My girls don’t seem to like them and started laying on their roosting bars now. Any tips to help them use this new bedding or should I switch back? The pellets are so messy for us.

    At what age do you do the egg shells? THe starter chick food I got says it all they need until 18 weeks and now I am reading about grit. Can you advise please. My 11 chicks are 2 weeks old.

    I am located in northern California and we are just starting our chicken coop and looking for tips on breeds for my area and any tips. Our coop will be ready in less than a month and looking to start selecting chicks. Thanks for all the help in advance.
