well i still did not manage to get the thermostat down as low as i thought it needed to be but my Dad and son got impatient and out voted me with the logic of, "if these don't hatch then we will just save two more days worth of eggs later and i will order a replkacement incubator thermostat for...
Sorry for the no pics thing but i do not own a camera, digital or otherwise. I am going to hire out a set of pictures when i get it finished so i can post them here and put them in with my notes so i can do this again later. When word gets out around town i know several people who will want an...
I have drilled six 1/4th inch (largest drill bit i own) holes in each side, three low for intake and three high for outtake. Plust there is a one inch oval shaped hole that the wiring runs through, and the picture frame access door with a 1X4 frame is not very airtight. The access hole is...
I have tried moving the thermostat. It started out mounted near the floor at egg level, moved to halfway up the wall, and then finally i put it in a sardine can and mounted it as close to the light bulb as possible. It holds the same range of temperatures (106 to 108) in each different place...
i started out with the thermostat as low as it would go ... therein lies my problem with those last few degrees. Should i file down the restrictor ridge on the thermostat housing so that it will turn slightly more down or does anyone know of a less complicated means of lowering temps?
Ok the incubator is fully assembled and has come up to temp, but there is one small problem. With a brand new hot water heater thermostat in place the light does go off and come back on now but it is holding steady at 106 degrees to 108 degrees. how do i get the temp down those last few degrees...
Ok one small speed bump here ... the thermostat that i got free from Dad is a 220 volt model. Now i have to find a 110 volt model but at least i have three sources i can ask before having to stoop so low as to buy one. I would much rather trade for one, stuff i have, cash is a bit scarce tho.
I...

i have the fan already set to run on regular household current as i have a spare heater that i can repurposeby simply removing the heating element and building a box mounting for the fan and controls out of one of those printing press plates and a couple of rivets.
my main problem is that i...
Ok I am going with the five cubic foot freezer my next question is this.
Can I use a small Lasko ceramic space heater as my heating element and air circulation fan rolled into one?? I ask because it has a crude thermostat built into it, which has ten or twelve various settings.
Do you think...
My son wishes to hatch a setting of eggs that will be, at some point, gathered from the chickens that are running loose in the yard here on the hill and so I find myself in need of an incubator. I am out of work as is everyone else on the farm here so my budget is limited to $6.00. I have the...
