    Well today is the day, the brooder is set up and we are just waiting for the phone call.. A dozen day old brown egg layers. (hatchery choice mix) First time chicken owners, everyone is so excited!! Wish us luck!

    Trent Lakes neighbors the Kawartha Lakes to the east. We basically live five minutes from Bobcaygeon. We are getting a "brown egg layer mix" from Frey's Hatchery. They offer, Red sex link, Black Sex link, Columbian Rock X, Red X, Barred Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red. So we aren't exactly sure...

    We have cardboard brooder roll I will be using to create a brooding area inside the pool. As the ladies grow I have some fencing that I will use to make sides and a lid if necessary.
