Hi Deryk, thanks for the feedback makes sense.
Oregonkat, they are Potch Koekoek chickens. I actually went to the farmer and collected the eggs, which was about an hours drive from where I live.
This what they look like fully grown.
Hatch is complete, from the 12 eggs 3 were not fertilized. All 9 hatched, pretty stocked but did learn a lot in the process.

Hi WVduckchick,
The mesh is plastic, very soft and pliable. No sharp edges which makes it ideal for hatching.
Well I was left with 9 fertilized eggs and Thursday and Friday morning it was crazy in the coolerbator. They were all pipping like crazy and once the 1st one came out they all started...

Thank you for the response.
Regarding humidity I came across a wide range of suggestions which was pretty confusing. The egg farmer from whom I obtained the fertilized eggs said that he incubates all his eggs at 70 percent from setting to hatching.
I decided to go with 60 percent and will push...
Having just joined the BYC Community, which must rank as one of the best decisions I have made in a while, I need some HELP from my fellow BYC friends.
As this is my first hatch, built a coolerbator which was awesome until it came to the wiring. With much trial and error and a shock thrown in...
Hi BYC friends, this is my first time incubating chicken eggs in my homemade coolerbator. Due date is 17 February 2018- on day 13 at the moment. Getting excited and anxious at the same time. Not sure what is more nerve wracking getting married, going to the dentist or waiting for the first pip? ?
