Help!! I was told rid of my hens!

Great news...I think. Code enforcement just came out. I was a little nervous at first. I showed him the coop and the 2 hens. He said he is going to call the neighbor who complained and try and smooth it over. If she is OK with it then he said everything is cool. If she still has a problem I am...

Help!! I was told rid of my hens!

On page 111 of this document http://www.ci.chico.ca.us/document_library/municode/Title19.pdf it shows that my zone R1 requires a use permit for animal keeping, in which fowl are included. It is unfortunate and hopefully the city council will come to their senses soon. Thanks.

Help!! I was told rid of my hens!

They are technically allowed but with a use permit...which is $1400+.

    Roost

I just put a roost in for my 3 months old hens. It is about 3 feet off the ground. Can they jump up on it themselves or do I need a ladder? Thanks.

    Nesting box questions

I am in the process of building my coop. It is about 5' by 4' and 6'tall. I am going to attach the boxes on the outside for easy access. Does the roof need to be slanted if they can't get on top of it? Also, how high should they be off the ground of the coop? Thanks
