I have 4 golden comets and I'm thinking I may have a roo. I can get better pictures tonight but based only on coloring what do you think? They are 4 weeks old
I've heard good things about the nesting box in oakboro but haven't used them myself. We are in Davidson (but not in town) McLeod organics on 73 carries an organic feed.
It was at the nc chickenstock sale, next year I'll educate myself way more, I've lightened up on her feed and I've forced her out of the coop and she's pecking and scratching a little better now
We were taken advantage of we bought these over an hour away from us. We are very much newbies, just wanting a few birds and we've had such a tough time this year.
She's getting so big she's starting to have issues with walking, getting out of the coop etc. I've heard of this being a common problem with the breed, that the grow so fast the rest of their organs can't catch up.
I honestly couldn't come up with a good title. We got this chicken in a set of 6 sold to us as golden comets as chicks, but clearly weren't. The other 5 were roos and we got rid of them. I've had a few people say they look like Freedom Rangers. But she is HUGE! And she will not forage for food...
To be honest we weren't 100% sure but we got rid of the 5 reds today. Really just wanting layers at this point. I can't quite get the courage up to process them, and the nearest processing plant to us was an hour and a half away
