hi fellow chicken adventurers! i have an egg-buyer who is sensitive to soy. is there any way to find out exactly what's in the Purina Sunfresh Scratch Grains? The tag seems to only have nutrition breakdown, not actual ingredients. does anybody know or know how to find out?
TIA joy :)
thank you, @Miss Lydia . that's a good idea. i bet it will work.
we did have the two embdens penned up in a stall for a week or two prior to Easter. things were much calmer then. the most aggressive and largest one was Easter dinner, so now we have the other embden and the two gray...
anybody got any other ideas for a gander who pecks and injures my chickens? i'm not sure if it's a mating, dominance, or just irritated behavior, but my geese all occasionally bite the chickens and hang on -- really hurting my hens. the geese are ok with humans, even the kids are established...
I second this idea. I'm in Florida, and it's already hitting 80+ each day, but my two buff orps are looking terribly naked. I can't imagine that scotch guard would keep the fabric from getting damp here. has anyone used a thin cotton?? something that can get wet and get dry again without...
I'm having this problem as well... my two buff orps both seem this way. they are 2 of approximately 40 hens, and just like the OP said, or doesn't seem to be mites or excessive male attention. any other ideas, anyone?
what about treatment options?
thank you!! i will check her crop this morning when i let them out.
also going to research what to do if her crop is impacted or blocked. any expert tips?
one of my 2 yo buff orpingtons seems to have a strange "shimmy" motion she is doing with her neck. kind of a back and forth like an egret eyeing a lizard... or maybe a hula dancer? this has just begun today. noticed it earlier but thought she was just working some food down, saw her doing it...
my life is full of blessed coincidences-- two weeks ago at a spring veggie gardening class i noticed another attendee who kept making "gardening with chickens" comments. so naturally, i introduced myself. lo and behold, this nice gardener had a lonely male guinea! and a nice large isolation...
oh yes! when these were teenagers, they could spend ALL DAY on the deck making an incredible ruckus. but then they settled down...at least as much as guineas ever do. that's why this behavior has been particularly annoying.
i haven't been able to find any locally, but yes... definitely a...
I can picture my husband's face when I tell him 20 more! that'd be great.
the main issue is that she didn't used to be this way...they're at least 18m old, and this hen has only been making incessant noise for the past month. so I hoped to identify a cause!
i never thought i'd be so interested in the love affairs of my guinea fowl, that's for sure.
should i get another one (or two or twelve)? do you think it matters if i get a new male or female? many sellers don't really know, and for sure when they're young it can be hard to tell!
also...
as i compose this post, outside my door is a guinea hen who is driving us (mostly my husband...) CRAZY.
background info here, we have three year-old lavender guineas, two hens and a cock. they're noisy, always have been, but generally fine. at least, once past their obnoxious adolescence...
I'm so glad I could provide you this opportunity to never get in your pool again. . have you heard of the bacteria that go in through your nose and ears and eat your brain?! jk. as long as its a chlorine or bromine pool, you're fine!
oh yeah, carrosaur! we have been trying various things since buying the place. carp, bass, tilapia, pool skimmers... don't get the wrong idea, it certainly has fish and turtles and such living in it. *even the occasional unwelcome gator* we also have a windmill aeration system. so it has a...
