    We have twelve and they are in a 6 x 8 foot tractor (I think) during the night. We let them out to range in a large grassy area during the day. They were out less over the (3-day) weekend when our neighbor was caring for them.

    This is our first time raising chickens. We purchased a dozen cornish cross birds from our local fleet supply store. I assumed they were just a few days old when we got them, but I didn't ask. We kept them under a heat lamp in a kid's swimming pool inside our chicken tractor in the garage...
