    18% is fine, - even 16% is plenty. I give my hens whole barley boiled in water first thing in the morning ( served warm @40 C) in our cold yorkshire winters. ,also add split maize and a few sunflower seeds. Neil

    Bresse are amazing to eat but a bit of a nightmare to keep. thin shelled eggs, really heavy eaters and a bit skittish, them seem to know they are going to be dinner. they have blueish leg bones bones and feet which can put people off.
