    Non layer?

Sadly, if your hen reaches almost a year old without having ever laid an egg- in my case, not a good sign.

    Non layer?

In tribute to a most beautiful, sweet, greatly missed hen... I loved Copper so very, very much. 😭😭💔

    Non layer?

A sad update. I think I was wrong. While that egg was laid where Copper slept, I think it was the first egg of either Snowflake or Blizzard. Everyone else, much younger than Copper, is laying now successfully. Copper was doing well- until one day last week, I found her covered in egg goo form a...

    Non layer?

I think Copper may have laid her first egg yesterday and another today. There was a tiny egg on the ground where she has been sleeping in the coop at night. (She's quite large and only occasionally likes to perch for some reason.) Anyway, there are two that sleep there and I always recognize...

7 month chickens hatched in March not laying

Still not laying? I have a hen (A local breed called Bignee) who I got as having 6 weeks in April. (I took my profile pic of her in April.) She has been fully developed for a while now, but hasn't laid yet. She goes to the nesting box, but nothing. Sigh. This is her now.

    Non layer?

Copper continues to sit in the nesting box for a while daily. She comes out calling something out, and then goes about her business. No signs of something wrong with her- other than the non-laying. I was hoping someone would have had the same experience and to see if their hen eventually laid or...

    Hello from Spain!

Thanks! Yes, the Biblue and Bignee breeds seem to be trademarked breeds from here.

    Hello from Spain!

So true! I've spent hours here over the years. It gave me the information necessary to save my hen Diamond a couple of years ago and I'm very grateful. I can't figure out what's up with my hen Copper, though, and haven't found anything similar in the forums, despite all of my searching. She's...

    Non layer?

I sort of doubt it as Copper is very active and happy. I have had a hen who has had issues with internal laying (Diamond), so I'm pretty familiar with it. She's the one we had to save one year when the buildup of egg inside her became infected. She had the penguin stance, wouldn't eat, etc. We...

    Greetings from Spain!

Awesome! Yes, I live in Denia. I've never been to Vinarós, but my mother-in-law is actually going there soon on a vacation with friends. I'm glad to see you kept the chickens and you are happy with them! I have 4 hens, but I haven't been getting enough eggs from them, so I'm getting 3 new hens...

I see you're in Spain and that you found a good variety of organic chicken feeds. Where do you order it from?

    Greetings from Spain!

Hi Naisha, I see this thread is old, but I thought I'd check to see if you're still around and still have chickens. I'm living in Spain in the Valencian community.
