Parrots can also be very happy and enriched when kept in singles you just have to do it right. I’d argue many dogs are also frustrated and destructive from improper husbandry. My Belgian quail D’anver is an excellent indoor rooster, very sweet cuddly and shows no signs of distress. Certain...
I wanted to give an update on her(?) colors since shes now 6 weeks old and has feathered a but more, no comb or wattle growth and the color seems to be the same orangy on the sides of the comb and pink wattle stubs. Also included the silly photo at the end haha shes yawning nit crowing👀
I have years and years of experience with lots of birds and yes they are flock animals but they will consider you their flock just like a parrot would. Of course the qol for the chicken is most important but in my experience its absolutely possible to have a happy enriched indoor chicken :)...
I meant the general increase in aggression when they really start getting hormonal shifts, most roosters go through this and its up to genetics and general personality how bad it will be but from my experience it always happens in really all boy birds at some point. :)
Edit: I meant to say they...
Did you end up getting a little roo? I have experience with single indoor chickens as pets and personally think they’re amazing! As long as you spend enough time with them and give them foraging enrichment they seen perfectly happy. I will warn about the 2-4 year aggression most roosters get...
Thank you for the reply! This is very helpful! Tofu really does look a lot like your white calico chick😁 sHe also looks a lot like the roosters… hopefully I have a handsome hen but I can definitely see that the comb is a little too big and red
I’m so excited to see how (hopefully) she will feather out as she ages, I haven't been able to find any photos of mostly white calico babies but she’s growing brown millie fleur looking head feathers so we shall see😁
I wouldn't be surprised but Im really hoping she just has a little blushing...
If it is a rooster then I have a nack for getting boys haha. Thank you for the reply I also think the combs kind of iffy we shall see🤞 Also thats interesting about the millie fleur feathering, I got a few chicks and one looked partridge the other was buff and then there were two white ones. I...
Its hard to see the brown (or take pictures of it😭) but its there I’m just curious how they'll feather out. Also the comb seems to be really yellow/orange and then pinkish in some lighting, is the comb relatively big for their age? Thank you for the reply!
Oh my gosh I was so close to naming her dandelion🖤 her names Tofu😁 I got her from SeaBreeze hens! Her siblings were almost all more buff except for her and her sister were almost entirely white with little splashes of brown and blue
Hello everyone, I have a new addition to my flock a cute little calico cochin bantam. Shes about 5-6 weeks old now and I’m hoping shes a girl🤞I also wanted to ask about her coloration as shes starting to grow some more millie fleur pattern around her hackles and head. Since shes so white will...
Hello:) I have a belgian quail D’Anver roo that I also did not want crowing however I just wanted to warn you about the no crow collars as they can be pretty dangerous. I tried one on Peanut and it didnt really work unless it was actually choking him, I finally decided I’d just have a big dumb...
