We have been letting our chicks and hens mingle together for the last few weeks and they have done great except when it comes to bed time... the chicks seem to go in first and get all settled on the roost then when the hens come in the chicks freak out and leave the coop, after about 10 minutes...
We have 4 hens 4 pullets. The run is about 16 x 16 and we have 3 nest boxes, they had been laying in there consistenly for the last year but I definitely think its because I've let them free range almost all day lately. Thanks for the advice, I did clean the nest boxes completely out and put...
My boxes are very shaded and they were laying in them for months before this. I will try cleaning out the boxes and adding fresh hay and keeping them contained in the run for a few days. Thanks for the suggestions 🙂

Free 8 week old Easter Egger Rooster, wish we could keep him because he is such a great Roo but we only live on 1/3 of an acre and have neighbors so crowing wouldn't be ideal.

We have an 8 week old roo we can't keep and my brother wants to take him but he has a large (25-30) flock of adult chickens.. can he introduce the 8 week old roo to the flock?
We have three 7 week old Easter Eggers, one is a Roo. We just introduced a 6 week old Rhode Island Red and the rooster has been very aggressive.. circling her, pecking her hard. We separated her in a brooder by herself for tonight but is this a normal behavior to assert himself in the pecking...
Mine are about 8 weeks old and sleep huddled in a corner still, I know they can get on the roost because Ive seen them on there multiple times. Im going to give it more time and see if they figure it out on their own.
I had been researching the idea of getting chickens for about a year and always found myself on this site for information, we now have a beautiful coop and run that my husband built and 4 7 week old pullets (2 australorps, 2 plymouth rocks) and everything is going really well so far! Glad to be...
