I would like to find a good source for eggs in Canada, other than hatchery birds.
They seem to be such a beautiful dual purpose bird.

I've been using old horse blankets draped over a large dog crate, with a bit of hay inside. When it got cold here, my rooster climbed in there & wouldn't come out He was sitting on the one and only egg. I had to rescue it from under him. He was very nice and warm.

With one Lavender orpington rooster (with a gimpy leg) and a barred rock hen to keep him company, I don't think I'll get 24 (minimum) eggs anytime soon!
