While I don't want believe that one of our dogs did this...it's still possible.
That little dog, while only 17lbs, is a Jack Russell. She is very capable of killing a chicken. While her name is Mazie, we joke by calling her White Death. She didn't come by that by accident, she loves to...

could not find my little dog when calling them in the other night. So I had to go find her this is what I found...
She was not a happy camper. So now I'm back to thinking she me be the killer after all.
On a lighter note the dog pictured was stealing eggs, no longer. Pet...
Update!
At about 2:30am dogs wanted to go out, to pee. While out they tree'd a opossum. Third one in as many weeks.
Did it kill black chicken? We will never know!
Well my westward next door neighbor has several cats that do stay outside. My southerly neighbor is feeding two foxes that have recently showed up. My dog killed two opossums in our front yard, a week ago, which faces north and has killed several over the years in the back yard. Plus we have the...
Yeah I thank you for the link. I did not think we had them, but I know different now. Being educated is very impotant.
However I still do not think it was a weasel, but I could be wrong.

I'm in central Alabama. I do not think we have weasels here. I have been an outdoor person my entire life, almost 40 yrs, and have never seen nor heard of weasels here.
I walked the yard today looking for sign and found a opossum foot print in a sandy area. I also saw some droppings, that I...
I can not say what killed this chicken and will never be able to 100% say what did, as there was no human eye witness. I'm pretty certain it was a four legged animal, judging by the evidence.
As you have read I set a live trap last night. It was set off at some point, however it did not have...
These are our first chickens also. We live in the city, but we do have a lot of wildlife including predators, unfortunately.
I spoke to my neighbor at lunch, she is active with her neighbors and walks very early in the morning so she hears and sees a lot. I was telling her what happened and she...
Please help me identify what happened to my poor chicken.
What I saw...
Black chicken, a healthy Plymouth rock, didn't come to roost yesterday evening. I went looking around the yard for her. It was dark. I found her dead on the edge and under a winter honey suckle shrub. IMO the predator...
Just wanted to say HI!
