well, all 3 cute chicks have now passed due to old age and no new ones due to the new place I live does not allow us to have any. But there is a small group of us trying to change that.
I have a 2 yo hen. She went broody after the passing of her 2 pen mates. I have 4, 2 week old chicks. Can i put them under her at night? Will she see them as hers? She is really defensive of her area. Thanks🐥
Sorry to say, she passed that night. The dog did not kill her, she actually badly injured her. I now have just one and 4 babies. We also put in a gate on the top of the deck that the dog cant get through. Wing trimmed also to stop her from going over the gate.
We have just cut down some bamboo so we weaving it through the gate to the run so the girls cant get over it and we will be doing a wing trim later tonight. The coop itself is pretty secure, it is just the run that she flew over. As far as the dog, she will no longer be let out without one us...

Came home from a visit and found my Great Dane hiding under the deck, thought nothing of it, as that is where she hides when scared of something. Several hours later when i went to lock the girls up for the night, one was missing. I went and looked under the deck and found her there. She was...
