Does this chick have an injury or defect?

It was failure to thrive. It passed about 2 days later. Even with electrolytes, egg yolk, and water, it stopped eating and drinking. 😟

Does this chick have an injury or defect?

Just wanted to add another picture. It is very tiny.

Does this chick have an injury or defect?

Thank you for being willing to help, but the chick has taken a turn this morning. We have been hand feeding the chick, but this morning, it will not eat, even with a dropper, and not moving much. We suspect the walking problem is a symptom of a much larger problem. The legs and body seem very...

Does this chick have an injury or defect?

No swelling. It's legs actually look smaller, almost like atrophy. But, otherwise, nothing obvious.

Does this chick have an injury or defect?

Does anyone know what is going on with this chick? It struggles to walk and falls down. When it falls down, it struggles to get back up. Hatched by this hen yesterday. Is there anything I can do for it? Or should I let Mama Hen continue to care for it? She is doing pretty good so far.

    Broody Overload

Australorp - Black and Blue The blues are the most broody. Every single blue girl we have has went broody.

    Broody Overload

Yes, we have gotten pretty good at recognizing broody girls at this point. Thank you for answering all of my questions. Just realized I threw quite a few out there. 😆 Sounds like your girl wants to be an overachiever like ours and she isn't letting a few cockerels get in her way. 🤭

    Broody Overload

We have 26 laying hens and 2 roosters. Over the last 4 months, 11 of those 26 went broody and hatched eggs. We didn't mind this as we have started to regularly rotate our flock for meat. BUT, 4 of those 11 are trying to go broody again already! We were thinking this would be the end of this...

    Unmarked chicks from tsc

The blues you have look more like my Blue Australorps than my Sapphires, but that is just from my experience with my flock.

    Pulsating Vent/Head Injury

Yes. Thank you. Supplements started. She has been our kennel inside with the cover on. We put her back in the coop last night when all the chickens were roosting since she seems to be doing much better and her head is much better. She looked well this morning but she seems to be staying away...

    Pulsating Vent/Head Injury

She laid an egg about 45 minutes ago. Her head injury and other symptoms seem to be much better now. Except she is now panting and making purring noises while laying in nesting box.

    Pulsating Vent/Head Injury

I should also add that we are working on integrating four 9 week old pullets with the flock, but we are still in the "see but don't touch stage" and they have been next door to older chickens' run for about 3-4 weeks now, after 5 weeks in our brooder (we got them as hatchlings and none were ever...
