Chicken walking backward-video-how to help her?

The hen in the video appears to be displaying extremely submissive behavior to the other hens. I can't say for sure since the video is not your hen and her interaction with the rest of your flock, but from what you describe of her being last in the pecking order I wonder if this may not be the...

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

Both I think - she's definitely laying again because she had an egg in "jail" on the last day. And I think she's not emitting whatever hormone goes crazy when they're broody which inhibits the others from laying - and she's not hogging the nesting boxes. So yes & yes!

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

Update: Chicken jail for 3 days did the trick! She's no longer acting broody and my daily egg production is slowly rising. Thanks everyone for sharing your experience, tips, and encouragement with a newbie! :thumbsup

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

FYI last night I rigged the broody cage so it is hanging from the roosting poles and she is off the ground. It looks like a Medieval torture cage hanging in the center of the coop lol. I did let her out to free range for a couple hours but blocked off the nesting boxes. Then back to the broody...

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

Any way I can get them lol! :drool Made a couple dozen deviled eggs for a family reunion this weekend and everyone loved them. My personal favorite is beet pickled eggs from an old Pennsylvania Dutch recipe I have. I could eat them all day. Your favorite?

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

Too funny!!!! Maybe if I had realized what was going on in the beginning taking her out each day would have worked, but I did that for a week or so to no avail. Good luck on your new chicks!:jumpy

Broody hen - am I handling this right?

I can understand that for sure. But it's not bothering me too much to put her in a cage for awhile because she wasn't doing very well spending all her time in the nesting box. The air circulation isn't quite as good there (my nesting boxes are cozy) and it's been waaaaay hot lately, and she...
