Because it's already pushing around my little Faverolles...who are pushovers.
And it wasn't in my plans to have a New Hampshire. But I've got a home lined up for her so no worries! ;)
Yeah, that one was ordered as an Orpington but seems to be a New Hampshire instead! That chick happens to be one of my favourites but probably won't be a good fit for my flock. Thankfully, my neighbor's 5 year old son just loves that one best of all so they'll be taking her in once she's a bit...
I have no idea. But I have enough pullets and no roos this time, so I'm honestly not bothered by it. Sweet littl bird though! Very bold and friendly...just a bit too rough for the Faverolles and Orpingtons.
She was supposed to be a buff orpington but it quickly became apparent that she was not. She's a hair bigger than the rest (buff orpingtons and salmon faverolles), no extra toes/foot feathering, a single comb.
I have no idea what she is...aside from (hopefully) a chicken!
Hatchery birds, 8 weeks old, purchased as pullets (along with a buff Orpington who was very clearly a rooster from the start.)
This one sprouted long wing feathers and a tail first. I thought female. Now developing red in the comb and especially in the wattles. Still thinking female...but I'm...
Jubilee orpington seems like a possibility! Wow that'd be a lovely eye catching hen to have in the yard! *crosses fingers*
I'll update as she grows. :) Thanks everyone!
This one is very slightly larger than the others and perhaps a touch more yellow in the face and a teensy bit darker gold down the back. The feet seem perhaps a bit more yellow than the other chicks feet.
These chicks were custom ordered vaccinated replacements for the first three I bought that...
I ordered three buff Orpington chicks and three Salmon Faverolles and while I love them all, something looks off to me about one of the Orpingtons. Namely, dark patches on the emerging wing feathers! From what I've read, BO's don't tend to get anything but buff/golden feathers so I'm a bit...
