    We are a just outside of Birmingham and have a sweet 11 week old Black Copper Marans cockerel - raised from a hatching egg - that needs a new family :hit (Pictured below at 7 weeks) Is this the best place to share about him or is there another forum?     I shared photos of our single BCM chick several weeks ago - y'all were so helpful! The responses were mixed on the sex but most thought my chick was a pullet. I just took a new photo, pretty sure it definitely is a he but just wanted to hear it from the experts. Will be 8 weeks in a few days.

    Just took some new photos of our BCM chick at two weeks exactly (along with the only other chick that hatched, a Cream Legbar) - I am still crossing my fingers that it's a pullet but if it's more likely a cockerel I'd rather know early on... thoughts appreciated!

    So can you base an educated guess for adult coloring on the color of the chick's down at hatch? I'm assuming golden crele is a deeper, more golden color, different from the cream?

    She is. And other than the name Jill Rees, I don't know a whole lot more about what that means - but hoping to learn as much as I can from this thread :) Any thoughts y'all would like to share would be appreciated!

    Thanks and yes, I saw both those videos - very helpful! Like you, I assumed that no spot meant female, but her markings are not distinct enough for me to breathe an official sigh of relief. Would love to hear any other opinions on not only the sex but the size of this chick... hoping it's...

    Here (s)he is (the other chick is a BCM) at one week. Would love to get any thoughts y'all have to share or things I should be aware of - I am a total newbie to this breed and don't even know all the things I should be asking :D Thanks so much!

    New here, just got our first Cream Legbar from some hatching eggs under a broody - we wanted to add a few colorful layers to our flock and thankfully one of the few that hatched was a Cream Legbar female (I think!). She is 12 days old now and so tiny, the other chick is a BCM so I don't have any...
