    Hatching on the Underside!

    Pippin hatched late last night and they're doing so well - probably one of the strongest! Turning the egg was definitely a good idea for my nerves' sake but I don't know how much of the success of the hatch was down to good luck or my meddling. At least it's got a happy ending!

    Humidity dropping during lockdown....

    All five of my chicks hatched with (almost) no problems and now I have a tub full of fluffs! There is no sign that humidity was ever a problem, they all fluffed up nicely and no shrink wrapping or drowning! (photo of one of my babies)

    There are still 2/5 left to hatch. I have just seen the egg shell break a bit - does that mean the beak has pierced the membrane? I can’t see the hole - should I risk it and break a bit of shell off to have a look?? I am so nervous!!!!

    no - i didn’t really handle it, i just opened the bator a crack and rolled because I am paranoid about shrink wrapping the wee ones!

    Hi - I’m on day 21 of my first hatch (6 silkies, shipped) with a brinsea mini. Last night I noticed a pip on the underside of the egg but thought nothing of it. This morning, got up and all the remaining eggs had pipped on the right side. Two have hatched but the one that pipped on the underside...

    Hi, Today is day 21 in the chick household and since 18:00 last night (day 20), I've had 3 pips. This is my first hatch and I started with six but lost one sometime during week 1. The eggs were shipped to me and I am using a brinsea mini incubator, temp 37.7*c and 45% humidity. I am hatching...
