    Fall Chicks

I have 10 Blue Plymouth Rocks (a sex-link) that were hatched 7/25/22. They started laying a couple days before 20 weeks in mid December. I do not supplement their light. I started getting 3-4 eggs a day fairly quickly and it jumped to 8 eggs a day within 2 weeks. Many eggs have been jumbo sized...

What to mix with my EE rooster to get green eggs?

I bred mine with white Leghorns. I got larger, mint green eggs and they laid more frequently than my Ameracaunas. Bonus that it turned out to be a sex-link...the girls had gray legs, boys had yellow.

    Muh babies are finally here!

Finally got my babies from Freedom Ranger Hatchery. There was a mix up with my order and it went to a PO 3 hours away. They called to tell me my chicks were in at the Albion, PA PO. My response was, "where the heck is that?!?" They scrambled to talk to the hatchery and found a local farmer to...

Topic of the Week - What is the purpose of your flock?

Chickens have that magical ability of turning garden/kitchen scraps into wonderful eggs and great compost to feed back to the garden. Plus, it is hilarious to watch them play keep away from all the other birds when you toss them garden bugs.

Massive incoming grain and food shortages

I hang the entire plant to dry once it is done for the season. The buns love them dried.

Massive incoming grain and food shortages

I'm not one of the "younger generation " and I know this has been going on for awhile. I'm merely stating that to pull MORE farmland out of production during looming food shortages is not a wise decision. I also don't believe the federal government should be making farming decisions or...

What color did you paint your coop?

Slightly darker gray than the house with a charcoal metal roof.

What are you doing to become water efficient?

Hubby left room on my greenhouse for gutters. It is not a plastic house.
