    I would have been importing Black Rosecomb and Crele day old chicks from the USA as I live in the tropics (Puerto Rico) but destiny changed my plans when my daughter was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. I canceled my early order and can only consider purchasing coop age birds now if I find them.

    You seem a dedicated and enthusiastic person, and your question is excellent. I have read that a 2 square feet per bird space is adequate if they have access to free range pasture. You are lucky to have a dad that will help build a pen, too. Good luck with your project.
