Hello, yes she was vaccinated for mareks. They have never been around any other hens, always in my brooder. I have not seen her poop. And yes as soon as I pick her up, she falls into this situation.
Seemed wobbly for a few days then sitting on hooks, now her/his legs are completely out in front. What is causing this. She/he is 5-6 weeks old. Was eating and drinking really good up until today. Please advise what I should do. Thank you
At first I thought it was in her eye, but looked again and it looks like it might be on her eye. It’s been in this position for 2 days. I have been putting an ointment in her eye for the last 2 days with no change. (Also pictured here)
She is constantly rubbing it and chirping, like help me...
Hello, I have a splash Cochin roo and would like to cross him with my lavender orpington hen. What can I expect in a offspring?
Note: He is older than this picture. Need to update.
Hello, I’ll keep him on amoxicillin for 10 days. I cleaned his ears out tonight, he had black gunk in both. I’ve attached a picture of his ear. Not very good.
For the ivermectin, do I apply it to his back side or underside? I’ll repeat it in 14 days at the appropriate amount.
Thanks again.
Thank you, if I have Tylosin how do I mix this for his use only? I also have amoxicillin? I will clean his ears out today.
For the mites, I dusted him in Saven and applied a pin drop of ivermectin under each wing, above his vent and above his chest. McCreamy and I thank you
Ok, so I checked him completely out tonight. His breath and mouth are good, no signs of anything there. His crop was firm so I’ll check it in the morning. I also looked at a few other hen ears to compare, he has gunk in his ears, it’s yellowish/whitish and glandular. I did find a few mites in...
Hello, his breth is good, no signs of anything in his back, looks good. His crop is was full tonight so I’ll check again in the AM to make sure it’s ok. I did see some yellow gunk in his ears. Cleaned them out
Thank you, I’ll go down and have my husband help to get a hood look. Hopefully with your help we can get him back to himself. He is a very special boy. I’ll send info after I take a closer look at him.
Thank you for responding I have not looked in his ears, but based on recommendations from several readers I’m going to check them with a few other hens to compare. He scratches, you can see the damage he is doing to his comb, those scabs are self inflicted. I don’t see any discharge nor mites...
I’m not sure if he’s doing it on the roost, but when he’s taking a cat nap, he will jolt to shake his head. I’ll go down and look in a few hens ears. He’s been doing this a little over 3 months. But it’s getting more consistent over time.
