I'm not sure what breed chicken I have. I thought she was a leghorn x. She just laid her first egg and it was very pale blue. She's a pretty little girl. Very nervous and jumpy though.
3 rooster from the neighbors farm come over daily to hang with my girls. They are free range but the coop is small it's 2ft x 2ft on main floor and a side room 2ft x 1ft. I have 2 speckled orpingtons and the chicken in the picture. I'm guessing I need to build another room off the side to expand...
One of my hens looks terrible. She has bald patches on he back and head. She is still laying. My other 2 hens look fine, full feather no balding. I'm not sure if this is molding this late in the season. Mites or feather picking. Help

Thanks for the insight. I'm sure i am feeding too many goodies. Hard not spoil. I will try the mash. Do you just add water to the pellets? Hate to waste. Then I'll look for crumbles. Any brand preference?
