Hard Molting Chicken is walking very weird...

This displays as neurological. Circling and squat walking bouts. I don't believe it is because of pin feathers specifically. I am going to give a B complex and see how that goes.

Hard Molting Chicken is walking very weird...

Wondering how this turned out for your girl. I am in the middle of a similar situation. I have 2(hardest molt I have seen in 12 yrs of chicken husbandry) and now possibly a 3rd starting. The 2 hen s over night dropped whole body of feathers and within 24 hrs straryed staggering and crouch...

Not sure how old this thread...but I came across this for anyone looking for off grid alternative. Seems like its laborius to set up but the science is sensible.

    Respiratory distress

If you don't mind I would like to know what happened to your hen. I may be dealing w/ a respiratory issue w/ one of my girls....gave her colloidal silver and giving her the night. Will check her closely in am. Thanks

Need suggestions to keep coop warm in winter!

We are similar with a 10×10 shed/8 hens. There is cross ventilation near ceiling. Different than most, I do close up all windows and doors after they are settled for the night...including their run access door. Curtains over windows. There is a steady breeze and I don't trust it will make for...

    Northern Georgia run ground cover

Just add more. I soak about 1/2 a bag in just enough water to expand it ..about once a month and lightly rake it in. I now use it in the nest boxes too.

    Northern Georgia run ground cover

Since I posted this thread I have mixed in semi expanded (mix with water) pine pellets with the sand. It works great. The run is 'covered' but a hard rain blows in easily. I add it pine pellet just along the outside edge and it does a great job of absorbing the rain. I then eventually mix it in...

Topic of the Week - Chicken Behaviour and Flock Dynamics Part 2 - Bullying Behaviour

I never had obvious or really extreme bullying with the last flock I had. This new flock...oy! I just noticed today a wayndotte chasing and pecking my biggest girl..a buckeye. The Buckeye (Big Boo) is docile and sweet...which I believe is why the Wayndotte (Piper) zeros in on her. I did grab...
