    I have a bird who had this same problem, she is doing incredibly well, her only limitation is her size and ability. She is growing very slowly, she just started developing tail feathers.

    I would say just use a warm washcloth. For how pretty they are, the head feathers still can be a real nuisance!

    I've learned that it is hard to guess age from looks. We have a 3 week old wyandotte who looks like a 4 day old.

    we are raising all of ours for pets and eggs, mainly because we have a vegetarian in the house, and I wouldn't want to butcher chickens we raised in a brooder, and also because we can't have roosters.

    We are currently raising chicks, we have 2 cuckoo marans, a rhode island red, a black star, a white crested black polish, and a wyandotte.

    We are currently using 2 wyze brand cameras in our brooder to keep tabs on the little nuggets, and are planning on using one in the coop. I will be sure to keep this in mind!

    Yeah, if you are going the wire route, use hardware cloth, not chicken wire.
