I have a little silkie starting to lay but they have all been soft shelled. She has laid probably 6 or so eggs but they all have been only a shell which is soft. The first one had yolk but the others have nothing in them. What shall I do?
Any suggestions?

Not good... she was always soo pleasant but with that baby she has turned mean... I need for her to accept them into the coop at night, that is all I ask.. is there any way to make this happen? Can I put her and the peep in a cage and try that, would that work?
Alright, don't know what to do... My hen & Roo wont accept the newer chicks... why... My hen had just hatched out her own peep now 3 weeks old, the other seven are appr 8+ weeks old. The old hen keeps pecking the other chicks for no reason, then they wont allow them in the coop at night, it is...
My silkie is sitting on eggs currently, should be hatching out soon... sooo.... do I need to put crumbles out for the peeps with the other chickens in the area?
Question: I have a broody silkie hen sitting right now, and if successful should hatch out peeps next week. We live in PA, and it still very cold, especially at night...so.. if she hatches out the peeps, do I need to take them from her and put them in a brooder or let them stay with the mother...

Well... not too experienced in the hatching process, I did it once before with better success. Not exactly sure what you mean by Duss over them? As for candling them, I did in the first week or so, but not lately.
Yes, I bought the eggs, they shipped to me, two different shipments...
Thanks for the advice, I will try it again with egg cartons. Just couldn't understand why they made it so long and quit on me...
I am glad you like my coop, it was fun to build, and a great conversation piece.... wife doesn't agree though.
